Someone once said, "Content is King," and this is especially true when it comes to the online world of websites and blogs. For people to visit your sites, you need good content. And for people to keep visiting, you need great content.

Nowadays, it's become so easy for anyone to just get a domain and hosting, and then put up their website or blog. But the tricky part is getting an audience who will read what you've written, who will visit your site and possibly get the services or products you're offering.

So how exactly do you build an engaged group of readers and followers for your blog? The first thing you need to do is to find the right niche.

This may sound simple to you, but it is actually trickier than it seems. But the importance of finding the right niche for your blog cannot be stressed enough. It is how people will find you and your site. It is how you can brand yourself and become known as the expert in a particular topic. It is how you distinguish yourself from all the millions of other bloggers out there.

To help you find the right niche, here are some questions you should ask yourself.
1. What are you passionate about?

What topic are you truly passionate about? What is it that interests and intrigues you? What do you do amazingly and uniquely well?

You see, when you blog about something you're passionate about, you can truly write a lot about it. You can put your own spin to it, and keep you and your readers engaged.
It doesn't become a chore. That's the problem when you blog about something that doesn't really spark your interest. It becomes boring… an obligation, instead of something you enjoy doing. As time passes, you find yourself being unable to write anything about it, and soon you decide to abandon your blog, since it's not really worth your time anymore.

You don't want this to happen to you, so you really need to focus on a topic that you know, that you love learning more about, and that you can write a lot about. When you write with passion, it becomes obvious to other people, and this results in intriguing others to read more.
2. Are there other people who are interested in the topic?

As much fun as it is to write solely for yourself, it's not the way to establish an engaged audience for your blog. As important it is to choose a niche that you're passionate about, it is also essential that there are other people who are passionate or interested in your niche.

This is where it becomes important that your topic is not too broad nor too specific. You want something that a number of people are truly interested in, and yet you don't want to choose a topic that's already saturated and a lot of other people are already blogging about. So you need to do your research, and find a healthy balance of broadness and specificity.

For example, the topic of women's fashion may be a little too broad, so you want to be more specific. Maybe you can focus on the current women's fashion in Asia, which is a bit more specific yet still has a good amount of audience.

Truly, finding the right niche for your blog is essential so you can build an engaged group of readers who hang onto your every post. You see, a blog isn't a blog without an audience… if you're writing only for yourself, than that's a journal.

So bolster your blog by choosing the right niche. Just remember to ask yourself what you're truly passionate about and research on the number of people who are interested in that particular topic, and you'll soon be on your way to establishing a blog with an engaged audience.
